Mr. Tony Nwoye a current member of the House of Representatives and former President of National Association of Nigerian Students, secured the most votes in the primaries to beat out a field of candidates that also included a Port Harcourt-based businessman, Bart Nwibe, George Muoghalu, Obinna Uzo, Paul Chukwuma, Chike Obidigbo, and Donatus Okonkwo
