One of the most interesting developments of the Ligue 1 weekend was a strange on-pitch spat between Edinson Cavani and Neymar as Paris Saint-Germain beat Lyon 2-0.The two stars are strike partners but looked at odds on Sunday.
Set-piece spats
The clashes occurred after PSG were awarded set-pieces. Cavani is PSG’s regular penalty taker but Neymar tried to convince him to let him take a spot-kick instead. The Uruguayan relented, crashing his shot off the crossbar.
There was also a bizarre incident when PSG won a free-kick with Dani Alves and Neymar looking like sly schoolyard bullies. Alves kept the ball from Cavani before passing it back to his compatriot.
Playing down
PSG boss Unai Emery wants his forwards to get on and urged them to solve any differences they had. Alves played down his role in their brewing feud, claiming he didn’t mean to intentionally snub Cavani.

Neymar hasn’t spoken publically about the issue but Edinson Cavani spoke out afterward.
He told Uruguayan media outlet Gol de Medianoche: “These are things pinned up. I do not know why we create all these stories. The truth is that these are normal things that happen in football. I heard about it when I talked to my brother, that people say that Cavani does not let penalties go or that there is a problem with Neymar. The truth is that there is no problem. Neymar has just arrived. He will surely be seen more and more. We, as I said from the beginning, have all the good will to adapt to the best. I think we found that it was adapting quickly.”
Is Cavani telling the truth? Or is it clear that Neymar and him don’t see eye to eye?
