Abacha, Indabawa drag PDP to court over Takai’s victory
Three governorship aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano state have dragged the party to court seeking the nullification of its governorship primary won by Alhaji Salihu Sagir Takai, the political godson of the Minister of Education, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau.
The trio are seeking the nullification of the primary. They include Mohammed Abacha, Dr. Akilu Sani Indabawa and Dr. Umar Musa Mustapha.
The former deputy governor of Sokoto state Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed Gusau who presided over the primary had declared Takai as the winner.
He said Takai scored the highest votes of 1,226, Engineer Bello Sani Gwarzo 24, Abba Risqua 140 and Mansir Ahmed 106.
But hours after the election, Dr. Akilu Sani Indaabawa said he along with Mohammed Abacha and Dr. Umar Musa Mustapha have dragged the party to Kano state High Court demanding the cancellation of the primary.
In a telephone interview, he said they boycotted the election in view of the violation of the constitution of the party regarding the conduct of the primary.
