Former Imo PDP Guber Aspirant Backs Jonathan, Ihedioha
A FORMER Imo People's Democratic Party (PDP), governorship candidate in the last December governorship primaries, Chief Humphrey Anumudu, a lawyer, has called on his supporters in the party to collapse into the camp of the governorship standard bearer of the party in the February 28 in the state and the Deputy Speaker of the House of the Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, urging them and the entire electorate to cast their votes for him to emerge winner.
He also urged his supporters to cast their votes for the Presidential Standard bearer of the PDP, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.
In a statement signed he signed and made available to The Guardian in Owerri, Anumudu recalled that after wide consultations with his supporters and others, he took a decision to support Jonathan and Ihedioha.
Anumudu said: "Today, i wish to seize this opportunity to express my unflinching support to the winner of the PDP governorship primary in the person of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, the Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives.
I am not happy that the leadership of Imo State is today, in the hands of an opposition political party. Such a thing happened because of the failure of the leaders of the party to do the right thing or make sacrifices for the good and progress of the party. All things being equal, my major interest for now is how the PDP could reclaim powers from the opposition All Progressives Congress.
"And we cannot achieve this without collective support to PDP governorship candidate. Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha. That is why, after much constitution with my teeming supporters, I decided ed to make public my stand that I totally support the candidature of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as the PDP governorship flag- bearer in Imo State for the February 28, 2015 election."
Continuing, Anumudu said: "We are sure that Rt. Hon. Ihedioha will live up to the expectations by taking Imo State to an enviable height...I will implore other governorship aspirants in the December 8, 2014 primaries to all rally support for Rt. Hon. Ihedioha in the interest of securing the future of the Imolites and the party."
In the last one week, both the immediate past governor of the state and an aspirant in the pools, Chief Ikedi Ohakim and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), factional Acting national Chairman, Ejike Uche, have announced their support for Ihedioha, urging the electorate to cast their votes for the lawmaker as the next Imo state governor
