Jose Mourinho blasts Arsene Wenger and Jurgen Klopp for criticising Paul Pogba deal

Jose Mourinho
Mourinho expects to conclude the £100m-plus deal for the Juventus and France midfielder before the start of the Premier League season.

But he called Arsenal manager Wenger and Liverpool manager Klopp “unethical” for their comments about the eye-watering deal

Wenger has described the fee as “crazy” while Klopp suggested he would walk away from football if those prices became the norm.

Mourinho is unhappy about them poking their noses into his business despite engaging in provactive exchanges with other managers throughout his career - last season he insulted Wenger by describing him as “a specialist in failure.”

On the eve of the Community Shield clash with Leciester, he said: “I only speak about us. I heard already two of my colleagues from other clubs speaking about us. I do not like that. It is not ethical.

“There are things that I do that are described as not ethical and when others do it everything is normal. But nobody says that.

“I do not speak about the others. They can do what they want. Our transfer market was good. We made decisions to bring four players - not 10 - that are Manchester United level.

“Four players that we think can really improve the squad and not just be one more [body]. This is the profile of our market: a young defender [Eric Bailly] who needs time to be a top one but who has top potential. A creative player [Henrikh Mkhitarayn] that we know the quality, a super striker [Zlatan Ibrahimovic], and we are going to get a very good midfielder.

“We try for balance. I am happy with my squad. I am happy with the effort of the club. The others - it is their problem.”

Mourinho is clearly confident Pogba will be a United player by the end of next week.

He added: “We have a squad of 22 and we are going to have 23. You are right, I don’t like to speak about other clubs or players from other clubs. Other managers like to do that, they like to speak about my club and my players.
