EFCC transfers Fani-Kayode to Kuje prison – Lawyer tells court
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has transferred former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode to Kuje Prison in Abuja.
Fani-Kayode is currently standing trial before the Justice Muslim Hassan-led Federal High Court, Lagos for an alleged fraud of N4.9bn.
Justice Hassan had on October 21 adjourned the matter till today but shortly after stepping out of the courtroom, EFCC operatives had arrested the former Minister and transferred him to Abuja where he was arraigned for charges bordering on money laundering.
At today’s resumed trial, counsel to the former Presidential campaign spokesman, Wale Balogun informed the court that his client was absent because the anti-graft agency has moved him to Kuje Prison.
Balogun told the court that the former Minister had been remanded in Kuje prison on the order of Justice John Tsoho of the Abuja division of the court.
