LIONEL MESSI has reportedly told Barcelona to make signing Real Madrid star Isco their No1 priority for the summer.
Isco's future at Real Madrid is uncertain with his contract due to expire next summer.
Arsenal have been backed to make a move for him - potentially to replace Mesut Ozil.
Ozil's deal runs out at the same time and the Germany international is yet to put pen to paper on an extension.
However, Barcelona have also been linked with Isco.
And Spanish outlet Don Balon claim Messi wants the Spain international to cross the divide and sign on at the Nou Camp.
The Catalan giants are on the lookout for a long-term replacement for club captain Andres Iniesta.
Isco intends to leave Madrid and could even jump ship this summer.
Messi reckons the former Malaga man is the perfect choice to help fire Barcelona back to the top and he wants the club to negotiate with Madrid over a shock transfer.
If he gets his wish, Isco will become the first player to move directly between the two clubs since Javier Saviola.
