Prof. Itse Sagay causing more problems for Buhari – APC
The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday came out hard on the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Anti-Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN) warning that his utterances had been causing more problems for the President on the lingering crisis with the Legislature.
APC has commenced its mediation role in the crisis with visits to the National Assembly.
The party warned both Sagay and other appointees of President Buhari to be mindful of their comments and utterances on issues between the Legislature and the Presidency.
It noted that recent comments from them have aggravatied the crisis rather than reducing the tension in the polity.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by APC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdulahi, the party urged all government appointees to stop making statements that may worsen the relationship between the two arms of government and derail the party’s peace efforts.
The party specifically called on Prof. Sagay to exercise restraint and desist from making utterances that may be misconstrued as an attack on the National Assembly.
Sagay had in recent statement boasted that rejected Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu, would continue to be in office as appointed by Buhari, whether the Senate confirmed him or not.
He also slammed the Senate for extending an invitation to him to appear before it and warned the Senate to withdraw it.
The party, which acknowledged the fatherly role being played by the President to resolve the issues with the National Assembly, by setting up a committee led by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, urged both parties to play to the rule and embrace the emerging peace.
