REAL MADRID skipper Sergio Ramos has reportedly learned Samuel Umtiti is planning to betray Lionel Messi by quitting Barcelona.
Umtiti has forged a reputation as one of Europe’s top centre-backs since moving to the Nou Camp from Lyon in 2016.
But Barcelona are facing a battle to keep hold of him thanks to a £53m (€60m) release clause in his contract.
Manchester United are said to be showing interest in Umtiti as they look to shake up their defence in the summer.
And reports in Spain suggest word of the 24-year-old considering an Old Trafford switch has got back to Ramos.
According to Don Balon, Ramos has told Real team-mates that Umtiti is planning to betray Barcelona and Messi.
The France international has apparently got multiple offers on the table but United’s is most enticing.
And Barcelona’s latest contract renewal proposal has failed to convince him to rebuff United’s advances.
Umtiti wants Barcelona to hand him a mammoth pay rise to reflect his star status at the Nou Camp.
And Jose Mourinho’s willingness to double his salary if he joins United means he’s considering leaving La Liga behind.
Don Balon indicate Barcelona’s outlay on the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele means funds are low.
And their chances of keeping Umtiti out of United’s clutches may be slim as a result.
