Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho brings his son to work as Zuca joins dad in Old Trafford dugout for Swansea clash
Jose Mourinho brought his son to work for Manchester United's clash with Swansea - as Zuca Mourinho joined his dad on the Old Trafford bench.
Zuca Mourinho was kitted out with a United tracksuit with his initials on as he joined his Premier League winning father and fellow bench newbie Michael Carrick in the dugout.
Mourinho Jnr was an academy keeper at Fulham before having his two year deal ended a year early, after spells at Chelsea and Real Madrid, but has taken a close eye on his old man's work at United.
The father and son duo celebrated the Europa League win together on the touchline in Sweden last season
Mourinho Snr has also previously backed his son to follow in his footsteps. He revealed in a documentary last year, "One day, after a period of a few bad results, he comes up with some analysis.
"Obviously suffering because Dad wasn't doing well, we had lost to Watford and Man City [in September 2016] I think. And he came with the stats of the team, I showed them to my assistants and I told them, be careful as one day this boy will take one of your places.
"I compare him with me at his age, where I would try do the same sort of things for my dad, of course with different technology methods, but analysis from a kid now aged 17, but 16 then."
Carrick also stepped up his post-playing career coaching dreams by sitting on the bench alongside Mourinho for the United's 2-0 victory over the Swans - with Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez both finding the net.
Midfielder Carrick has previously announced he is hanging up his boots at the end of the season having suffered from heart problems and dizziness during matches.
Boss Mourinho has been keen to keep this club captain at Old Trafford and has handed him a place as part of United's backroom staff from next season.
But the Portuguese has given Carrick a taster with eight games still to go this campaign against the Swans.
"It's only for next season really but, this season, he is already coming and sharing a little bit of our space," said Mourinho.
"We are opening the door for him to not have a difficult transition next season. So, this season, he's doing little things.
"He is learning, not the football of course, but the other side of the life and I think it's a good experience for him until the end of the season. Maybe, in three or four matches, it's another experience for him to share the bench from a different perspective."
He has won five Premier League titles, a Champions League, a Europa League, an FA Cup and three League Cup gongs during his 12 years in Manchester.
Carrick will join Rui Faria, Silvino Louro and Ricardo Formosinho as Mourinho's right hand men.
