Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku will not be recalled in January, Jose Mourinho has confirmed.
The Blues' boss believes it is in the best interests of the 20-year-old Belgium international if he stays at loan club Everton until the end of the season.
"I think it's good for Lukaku and for Chelsea if he plays every game at Everton," Mourinho confirmed at a press conference on Friday afternoon.
Lukaku started with the season at Stamford Bridge but joined the Toffees on transfer deadline day after it became apparent that he would be spending most of the season on the bench following the arrival of Samuel Eto'o.
Mourinho's decision to sign 32-year-old Eto'o rather than giving Lukaku a chance in Chelsea's first team has sparked some confusion, after the powerful young striker enjoyed such a fine campaign at West Brom last season.
Lukaku was not allowed to play in Everton's 1-0 win over Chelsea last weekend, but could make his Toffees' debut against West Ham on Saturday.
