Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho
could be ready to offer goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to Atletico Madrid
on a permanent deal in exchange for striker Diego Costa.
The Brazilian-born Spanish
international has been in superb form for Atletico this season,
attracting plenty of interest from around Europe, and SportsDirect News understands Chelsea are hoping to come to an agreement to sign him next season.
The Blues are short of quality
strikers at the moment, and although Mourinho has ruled out making
signings in that department in January, he is hoping to secure the
services of Costa in the summer.
Young Belgian goalkeeper Courtois has
been on loan with Diego Simeone's side for the last three seasons, and
may be surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge due to Petr Cech's
undisuputed status as the club's number one.
This seems to have led to Mourinho
looking to use Courtois to bring in the prolific Atletico front-man, and
all signs now point towards the talented shot-stopper making a
permanent switch to Spain.
However, Barcelona are also interested
in the 21-year-old as they eye a replacement for Victor Valdes, and a
potential stumbling block in the move could occur if the player himself
favours a move to the Nou Camp.
