Ex-gov Sylva Urged To Support Dickson’s Administration

Mixed reactions yesterday trailed the ruling of the Bayelsa Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja  which dismissed the petition filed by the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Timipre Sylva and upheld the election of the state governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson.

While the chairman of the Brass local government area of the state, Hon. Bello Bina, joined jubilant supporters of the PDP to congratulate the state governor for the victory and urged former governor, Chief Timipre Sylva and the opposition APC in the state to accept defeat in the spirit of true sportsmanship and join hands with the Dickson administration to build Bayelsa State, the candidate of the APC, through his media adviser, Doifie  Buokoribo, rejected the ruling of the Election Petition Tribunal, insisting on appealing the judgement.

The chairman of Brass LGA in Bayelsa State, Hon. Bello Bina, yesterday while congratulating the state governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson, described the victory as “well deserved for Gov. Dickson, the Restoration Team and the entire people of Bayelsa State.”

The chairman while commending the judiciary for upholding the sanctity of the people’s mandate, thanked Bayelsans for their support for the PDP and the Restoration Government of Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson. “On behalf of the good people of Brass local Government Area, I congratulate you on your well-deserved collective victory at the Bayelsa State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.

“Your victory at the tribunal is well-deserved because you campaigned; you moved from community to community selling the programmes under the Restoration Agenda to the people while the opposition were relying on the federal might to deliver the election for them. To God be the glory, you won decisively in seven out of eight local government areas in the state. Your Victory is a clear testimony to our maturing democracy,” the statement said.

The Chairman therefore advised Chief Timipre Sylva and the opposition APC in the state to accept defeat in the spirit of true sportsmanship and join hands with the Dickson Administration to build Bayelsa State and make it the true Glory of All Lands.

But the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidate, Mr. Timipre Sylva, in the statement issued via email and signed by his Media Adviser, Doifie‎ Buokoribo, have vowed to appeal the judgment of the governorship election tribunal. Sylva, who spoke through his lawyer, Felix Okorotie, immediately after the judgment described it as a miscarriage of justice

In his reaction Media Adviser to Sylva, Mr. Doifie‎ Buokoribo, accused the tribunal justices of bias as he expressed optimism that the judgment would be overturned by the higher courts,”This judgment cannot stand. We tested their judgment before up to the Supreme Court and we won, this very one cannot be an exception”.
