Arsene Wenger should be sacked and replaced with Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri, according to former Arsenal midfielder Stewart Robson.
Pressure on the Frenchman from the club’s supporters has increased following a poor run of form since the turn of the year with the 3-0 loss against Crystal Palace on Monday night the fourth consecutive defeat away from home for the north London outfit in the Premier League.
With Wenger’s contract set to expire come the end of the season, Robson feels the time is right for the Gunners manager’s over two decade tenure at the club should come to an end and has urged the appointment of Allegri.

“I’ve wanted Wenger to leave Arsenal for about seven or eight years,” Robson told
“There’s an article dated 14 April 2008 of me saying exactly that and my views have not changed.
“I said they should go and get Antonio Conte, because I’d seen all the Juventus games and I said he was the best coach in Europe, but everyone laughed and said: ‘No, he can’t come from Juventus to Arsenal’.
“Now, I’d go and get Massimiliano Allegri from Juventus.
“He’s done a really good job after Conte and I think he’d suit Arsenal well.”
Allegri masterminded a 3-0 Champions League quarter-final first leg victory over Barcelona last night, has guided Juve to the final of the Coppa Italia and is on course to win his third successive Serie A title this season as his side have a six-point gap over Roma with seven games remaining.
However, there has been speculation that he could extend his stay with the Bianconeri despite being linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium while any decision on Wenger’s future is unlikely to be revealed until the campaign ends as there is still an offer of a two-year extension on the table,
