Eden Hazard opened the scoring in Tuesday night’s Premier League clash against Southampton.
The midfielder got on the end of Costa’s pass to fire Chelsea into the field within five minutes.
Not only was his goal significant in the title race, but it was significant for Hazard himself as well.
The goal – his 15th in the league this season – marks his best ever scoring tally in England.
Hazard did once achieve 20 goals during his time in France with Lille.
Romeu return
Hazard had the opportunity to double Chelsea’s lead after being played in by Costa once again but the Belgian completely fluffed his effort.
The Blues were made to pay moments later when former Chelsea midfielder Oriol Romeu scored Southampton’s equaliser against his old club.
Gary Cahill restored Chelsea’s lead on the stroke of half time.
A win for Chelsea would calm their nerves with London rivals Spurs hot on their heels.
