Javier Mascherano wary of Juventus stars’ “individual brilliance”

Javier Mascherano says FC Barcelona must be prepared to be “careful” against Juventus and their star Argentinians Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain.

The pair are enjoying a run of exceptional form with the runaway Serie A leaders and will be out to help the Bianconeri into the Champions League semi-finals when they face FC Barcelona.

Higuain has scored a massive 21 goals in 31 appearances in Serie A alone this season.

The first leg of the tie will be played in Turin on Tuesday, and Mascherano, who knows the striking duo well from their national team exploits, has stressed his teammates must be prepared for “individual brilliance”.

“Gonzalo (Higuain) and Paulo (Dybala) are two great champions,” Mascherano said.

“I know their quality really well as I play with them for the national team.

“So we will have to be very careful against two players who can decide a game with a piece of individual brilliance.”

While Barcelona were given a caution of their own from within, another Argentina and Serie A star, Hernan Crespo, warned Juventus they cannot anticipate the same Blaugrana that was thrashed 4-0 by PSG in their round of 16 first leg at Parc des Princes.

“It’s impossible that the Barcelona players will approach the next game with the wrong attitude like they did in Paris,” he said.

“That won’t happen again. All you can hope is that they won’t have their best day froma  technical point of view.

“They can get a game wrong, but it’s unlikely they will play two bad games in a row.”
