Wike sacks two council chairmen
The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has sacked the local government chairmen of Akuku-Toru and Ogu/Bolo, Mr. Tonye Alalibo, and Mrs. Daisy Tamunoene respectively.
The chairmen were said to have been relieved of their positions on Saturday because they failed to participate in the events that would improve the cultural development of their various local government areas.
Though no official statement had been released by the state government on the development, it was gathered that the governor wished them well in their future endeavours.
A source told our correspondent that the chairmen were not present to receive awards for their local government areas’ excellent performance in the boat regatta competition during the ongoing Golden Jubilee celebration.
While Akuku-Toru came first, Ogu/Bolo took the third position during the colourful and exciting competition, which was part of the events to mark Rivers at 50.
The Special Assistant to the governor on Electronic Media, Mr. Simeon Nwakaudu, confirmed the sacking of Alalibo and Tamunoene to our correspondent on Saturday.
